Day 6 Second Juice & Health Benefits

Sorry I didn’t get a picture of this one as I was making the juice and dinner at the same time.  For dinner tonight Cheyenne had salmon, a big salad, 2 baby red potatoes and fresh corn on the cob. I left out the salmon and had everything else. About 40 minutes before dinner was done cooking we had our juice. It’s a Grapefruit juice. It was vibrant and delicious!

Grapefruit Juice Recipe:

1 Grapefruit

1 Orange

7 Carrots

1 inch Ginger Root (peeled)

Wash all ingredients and run through the juicer. Stir and serve!

Health Benefits of the Juice:

Grapefruit: Packed with vitamin C and vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. It has antioxidant phytonutrient lycopene which helps protect cells from everyday damage which can lead to cancer and other diseases. It also contains phytonutrients that protect against some types of eye diseases. Always check with your doctor if you have one because it can interfere with some medications.

Carrots: The abundant vitamin A which is beta-carotene in carrots helps protect the eyes. Vitamin A also keeps the skin in good strong shape.

Oranges: They are packed with vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin A, thiamin, folate, potassium, fiber, proteins, copper, magnesium, flavonoids, hesperidin, and many other trace vitamins and minerals that make it one of the most nutrient-packed fruit available. They are known for helping to reduce signs of aging, boosting metabolism, protect against cancer, detoxify the body, boost cell repair, and reduce inflammation.

Ginger Root: Ginger is an ancient remedy. It is used for relieving motion sickness, morning sickness, nausea associated with chemotherapy. It aids in digestion. It has lots of phytonutrients that act against inflammation. Ginger is also known for possibly combatting cancer, heart disease and many other disease that are linked to chronic inflammation.

We are almost to day 7 and I will give a weight update then. During the first few weeks of making changes to your diet and exercise you would be surprised but your weight can go up and down do to water retention and your body being in a little shock. This is totally normal and part of the process. So a good rule of thumb would be not to check your weight constantly unless you are fully aware that this does happen. But as long as you are sticking to your Whole Foods and juicing you will have nothing to worry about!
